Cal Gold is part of a family-owned and operated company, California Loan & Jewelry, that has been in business for over 100 years. Throughout that time their business philosophy has remained the same: honesty, integrity and the best possible service for all customers.
We provide a comfortable and safe environment and feature an experienced staff that knows the value of your gold. Combined, the staff has over 125 years of experience and includes three graduate gemologists. It is that sense of professionalism that differentiates California Loan & Jewelry from competitors. And it is that sense of professionalism that differentiates California Loan & Jewelry from its competitors.
Building long-term relationships with our customers is very important to us. We know from past experiences that a satisfied customer will share her experience with family and friends, who in turn will come to our store. Today, it is not uncommon for our store to be serving second and third generation customers. By continuing to make customer satisfaction our primary goal, we are confident of serving a fourth generation of customers.
California Loan & Jewelry is your local gold buyer. We’ve been owned and operated by the same family for over 100 years, so you can feel confident that you’re dealing with an honest, trustworthy staff. For some people, selling gold merchandise can be an emotional event. For others, it’s strictly business. Either way, our staff – including three Graduate Gemologists -- has the experience it takes to be able to quickly and accurately determine the value of your merchandise. They’ll work with you and explain exactly what you need to know about your gold and the thinking behind the value they placed on your merchandise. Clients frequently see a 30% difference in the price we offer over the price others may have quoted.
We provide a safe and secure environment you can count on today – and into the future. Stop by our store and we’ll give you an offer on the spot. If we agree on the price, you can leave the store in a matter of minutes with cash in hand. Or give us a call at 916.446.6175 to discuss your needs. Or send us an email (info@calgold916.com) describing your gold (include a photo if available) and we’ll get back to you promptly to discuss your situation. We’re happy to provide prompt, on-the-spot valuations with no cost and no obligation to you.
And don’t be fooled by carpetbaggers that blow into town for a week, set up camp in a local hotel, and promise to give you the maximum value for your gold. They won’t. But before you realize you have under-sold your merchandise, the buyer is long-gone, having moved to the next city on his list. California Loan & Jewelry has roots in the community that guarantee we’ll be here for you today and tomorrow -- whenever you need us.
If you can’t get to our store in downtown Sacramento, an alternative is to mail your gold to our store, with a list of all the items included in the package. If you decide to use this method we recommend that you insure your gold for the value you think it is worth. When your gold arrives in our store the package will be photographed before opening and two people will witness the opening on the package. (If you include your email address, we will notify you when the package arrives.) Once opened, another picture of the contents will be taken. We will review the merchandise and make you an offer by phone or email for your gold. We can even give you a confirmation by e-mail if you include it.
Regardless of whether you mail your gold or personally bring it in, a photo identification that has been issued by a governmental agency is required. That could be a driver’s license or a state-issued identification card or a passport -- but there are no exceptions to this rule.
We pay the highest amount possible based on the carat of the gold and the quantity you bring in. The more it weighs, the more we pay. The current price of gold is also a factor and can change on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, the amount you paid does not determine how much you'll receive when you sell it. In addition to the carat and weight of the gold, what we pay is also determined by the item's "sell-ability." Because we do not scrap everything, we're always looking to buy gold pieces that we can resell.
Manufacturers often mark the inside of rings with a number that indicates the carat of the gold. U.S. manufacturers will stamp 14k, 18k or 24k. In Europe, 750 is the equivalent of 18k, while 585 indicates 14k. Asian manufacturers also use 916 for 22k. If the metal is white, a marking of 900 or 950 means the ring is made of platinum.
That's not a problem for us. Bring in the chain and we'll test it to determine its carat. We offer the evaluation as a free service and you are under no obligation to accept our offer.
For jewelry containing diamonds, the value of the diamonds will be credited back to your account and paid for on your settlement sheet. Semi-precious stones found in jewelry will not be paid for. You are welcome to remove these stones before sending the gold to us.
We believe California Loan & Jewelry offers more than our competitors, but we encourage customers to check around. Our customer service and willingness to pay top dollar have kept us in business for over 100 years.
